Test pattern note: The paper is set as per the PM&DC syllabus, with different paper codes so question order varies between candidates. The subject split above is the one KMU publishes for its Islamabad campus test (KMU-CAT ISB). The Peshawar notice confirms the 100-question format but does not list a split, so check your roll number slip for the latest details.
Test centres: Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Malakand, Swat, Dir Lower, Parachinar, Islamabad, Hazara, Kohat, Bannu, D.I. Khan, Haripur and Chitral. You need FSc Pre-Medical or equivalent with at least 50%, or an awaited result.
Scope: This page covers KMU's constituent institutes in Peshawar. The Islamabad campus runs its own admission portal (catisb.kmu.edu.pk), so check its formula there. For the latest notices, use cat.kmu.edu.pk.
How the KMU CAT Aggregate Is Calculated (2026)
KMU uses one formula for BS Allied Health Sciences admission through the KMU CAT. Each result becomes a percentage, is multiplied by its weight and added up. We checked the calculator against KMU's own aggregate calculator, and the results match.
KMU CAT Aggregate Formula
Aggregate = (Matric % × 0.10) + (FSc % × 0.50) + (KMU CAT % × 0.40)
Worked Example
Matric 950/1100 (86.36%), FSc 900/1100 (81.82%), KMU CAT 70/100 (70%) → (86.36 × 0.10) + (81.82 × 0.50) + (70 × 0.40) = 8.64 + 40.91 + 28.00 = 77.55% aggregate.
KMU CAT Is Not the MDCAT Formula
MDCAT weighs Matric 10%, FSc 40% and the test 50%. KMU CAT flips the last two: FSc 50% and the test 40%. Some websites show the MDCAT split for KMU CAT by mistake. With the same marks as above, the wrong 10/40/50 split gives 76.36% instead of 77.55%.
FSc Carries the Most Weight
Because FSc counts for 50%, your intermediate result matters more than the test. Every extra 10% on your FSc percentage adds 5 points to your aggregate, while 10% more on the CAT adds 4.
Improving Your FSc
KMU does not deduct marks if you improve your FSc. If you retake any papers, enter your best final marks and total in the FSc fields.
O-Level and A-Level Students
You need an IBCC equivalence certificate. Enter the equivalent marks and totals from it in the Matric and FSc fields.
How KMU Allied Health Sciences Admission Works
The KMU CAT is mandatory for Allied Health Sciences admission in KMU constituent and affiliated institutes. Admission is on a merit-cum-quota basis, so your aggregate decides your merit position and your quota category can matter too.
Register for the CAT
Registration opens every June on the KMU CAT portal (cat.kmu.edu.pk). The test is usually held about three times a year. If you retake it, you must register again and pay a new fee, which is non-refundable.
Apply Through the BS Admissions Portal
KMU's BS admissions portal (bsadmissions.kmu.edu.pk) lists the program details and the 10/50/40 weightage used to calculate your aggregate.
Your Best Attempt Matters
Because each retake is a separate registration, enter the score of the attempt you plan to use. Compare your aggregate with the merit lists published for your program, as merit changes every year.
Note: The "Where Do You Stand?" ranges are approximate open-merit ranges taken from KMU's published 2025-26 merit lists, not exact closing aggregates. Closing merit changes every year and varies by program, quota, and campus. Use your calculated aggregate as a general guide and confirm your position on the official KMU merit list.
