FAST Entry Test Pattern 2026

NU Test (FAST's own) — for BS Computer Science, Software Engineering & Engineering programs

Total MCQs

120

Duration

~2 Hours

Format

Computer-Based

Subject Distribution (CS / SE / Engineering)

Advanced Mathematics 50 MCQs
English 30 MCQs
Basic Mathematics 20 MCQs
IQ & Analytical Reasoning 20 MCQs
Negative Marking (−0.25) No Calculators Allowed

Note: Each correct answer earns +1 mark, each wrong answer −0.25, and blank/unattempted questions carry no penalty. Sections are individually timed, so once a section's timer ends you can't return to it. BBA and other Business programs follow a different pattern — English, Essay Writing, Analytical Skills/IQ, and Basic Math, without an Advanced Math section.

NTS NAT & SAT alternative: Instead of sitting the NU Test, you can apply using your NTS NAT-IE or NAT-ICS score (out of 100), or a qualifying SAT score — minimum 1000 for Business programs, minimum 1200 for CS and Engineering programs. Your Entry Test percentage is calculated from whichever test you submit, using the same formula weighting either way.

How the FAST Aggregate Is Calculated (2026)

The FAST aggregate calculator formula depends on which program you're applying to. FAST-NUCES uses two different weightings — one for Computing & Business programs, and a separate one for Engineering — both accepted across all six campuses (Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Chiniot-Faisalabad, and Multan).

Computing & Business Formula

Aggregate = (Matric % × 0.10) + (FSc % × 0.40) + (Entry Test % × 0.50)

Engineering Formula

Aggregate = (Matric % × 0.17) + (FSc % × 0.50) + (Entry Test % × 0.33)

Worked Example — Computing & Business

Matric 90%, FSc 85%, Entry Test 70% → (90 × 0.10) + (85 × 0.40) + (70 × 0.50) = 9 + 34 + 35 = 78% aggregate

Worked Example — Engineering

Matric 93%, FSc 88%, Entry Test 75% → (93 × 0.17) + (88 × 0.50) + (75 × 0.33) = 15.81 + 44 + 24.75 = 84.56% aggregate

Which Entry Test Counts

FAST does not accept ECAT. Your Entry Test score can come from the FAST Entry Test (FAST's own, also called the NU Test), NTS NAT, or SAT — all three are accepted for most programs, and the same formula weighting applies regardless of which one you sit.

A-Level Students

If your Matric or FSc marks come from an IBCC equivalence certificate, enter your equivalent percentage marks in the same fields.

How FAST Merit Lists Work

Once your FAST aggregate is calculated, it's compared against every other applicant for your chosen program and campus to build the FAST merit list. FAST doesn't release just one list — here's how the process actually plays out after entry test results are announced.

When the First Merit List Is Released

FAST typically announces its first merit list within 2–3 weeks after entry test results are released. Your FAST aggregate calculator result determines where you land on this list for each program you've applied to.

Separate Lists by Entry Test Type

FAST maintains separate merit lists for FAST Entry Test applicants, NTS NAT applicants, and SAT applicants — each competing within their own pool rather than one combined ranking.

Multiple Merit Lists, Not Just One

As selected candidates confirm, decline, or miss their seat-confirmation deadline, FAST releases further merit lists — second, third, and sometimes a waiting list — over the following weeks to offer those seats to the next-ranked applicants.

Separate Lists for Each Campus

Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Chiniot-Faisalabad, and Multan each have their own seat allocations and their own merit lists. A program that's out of reach at one campus may still be open at another with a lower closing aggregate.

Where to Check Your Status

FAST merit lists are published through the official FAST-NUCES admissions portal. Log in with your application details to see your status for each program and campus you applied to.

Note: FAST does not officially publish a consolidated closing-merit percentage table. Any specific cutoff numbers you find online are third-party estimates from previous cycles. Use your FAST aggregate calculator result as a general guide, and always confirm your actual status through the official FAST admissions portal.

5 Simple Steps

How to Use the FAST Aggregate Calculator

Just enter your Matric, FSc Part-1, and entry test marks (NU Test, NTS NAT, or SAT) to get your exact merit score in seconds — free, accurate, and no sign-up required. No sign-up, no manual formulas. Select your program, enter your Matric, FSc, and entry test marks, and this FAST aggregate calculator returns your exact 2026 aggregate percentage in seconds — using the same formula FAST-NUCES applies across all six campuses.

1

Select Your Program

Choose your program group first — Computing & Business or Engineering — so the calculator applies the correct weightage automatically.

2

Enter Matric (SSC) Marks

Type your obtained and total Matric marks (e.g. 1050 / 1100). If your FSc Part-2 result isn't out yet, tick the box and the calculator adjusts automatically.

3

Enter FSc / Intermediate Marks

Add your FSc marks — either combined Part 1 + Part 2, or Part 1 only if that's all you have so far.

4

Choose Your Entry Test

Out of 100

Select NU Test, NTS NAT, or SAT, then enter your score — whichever test you sat, the same formula weighting applies.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate my aggregate for FAST university?+

Convert your Matric, FSc, and entry test marks to percentages, multiply each by its weightage, and add the results together. Computing & Business programs use 10% Matric + 40% FSc + 50% Entry Test; Engineering programs use 17% Matric + 50% FSc + 33% Entry Test. Or just enter your marks into the calculator above.

What is the FAST aggregate calculator formula?+

It depends on your program. Computing & Business: 10% Matric + 40% FSc + 50% Entry Test. Engineering: 17% Matric + 50% FSc + 33% Entry Test. Both apply the same way across all FAST-NUCES campuses.

Does FAST accept ECAT?+

No. FAST does not accept ECAT scores. It uses its own FAST Entry Test (also called the NU Test), and also accepts NTS NAT or a qualifying SAT score instead.

What entry tests does FAST accept?+

Three options: the FAST Entry Test (NU Test), NTS NAT-IE or NAT-ICS, and SAT. All three are accepted for most programs, though availability can vary slightly by campus and intake.

What is the FAST NU Test pattern?+

120 MCQs, computer-based, roughly 2 hours with each section individually timed: Advanced Mathematics (50), English (30), Basic Mathematics (20), and IQ & Analytical Reasoning (20). Negative marking applies at −0.25 per wrong answer, and calculators aren't allowed.

What SAT score do I need for FAST?+

A minimum SAT score of 1000 for Business programs (BBA, BS Accounting & Finance, BS Business Analytics, BS FinTech), and a minimum of 1200 for Computer Science and Engineering programs.

How much aggregate is required to get into FAST?+

There's no single fixed number — required aggregate varies by campus, program, and year, and FAST doesn't publish an official closing-merit table. Check the merit list section above for how the process works, and confirm current cutoffs on the official FAST admissions portal.

Is the formula the same for every FAST campus?+

Yes. The same program-based formula (Computing & Business or Engineering) applies whether you're applying to Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Chiniot-Faisalabad, or Multan. What differs by campus is the closing merit, not the formula.

How does the formula work for A-Level students?+

A-Level students need an IBCC equivalence certificate to convert their grades into the Matric and FSc marks system first, then enter those equivalent percentages into the same fields.

What if my FSc Part-2 result isn't out yet?+

Use the checkbox above the calculator to indicate your Part-2 result is still awaited, and it will calculate your aggregate using Matric and your entry test score only until your full FSc result is available.

Does my choice of entry test affect my merit list?+

Yes. FAST maintains separate merit lists for FAST Entry Test, NTS NAT, and SAT applicants — you're ranked only against other applicants who used the same test type, not against everyone.
