How the NED Aggregate Is Calculated (2026)
This NED aggregate calculator uses the university's official Merit Score formula: 40% from your HSC Part I (Intermediate first-year) marks, and 60% from your NED Entry Test score. NED is one of the only major engineering universities in Pakistan that leaves Matric marks out of the calculation entirely.
The Formula
Merit Score = (HSC Part I % × 0.40) + (NED Entry Test % × 0.60)
Worked Example
HSC Part I 88%, NED Entry Test 72/100 → (88 × 0.40) + (72 × 0.60) = 35.2 + 43.2 = 78.4% Merit Score
Only HSC Part I Is Used
Enter your first-year Intermediate (HSC-I) marks only, not your combined Part I + Part II result. If your qualification is A-Level or a foreign exam, use your O-Level or equivalent marks instead in the same field.
Matric Marks Don't Count
Unlike UET, FAST, or NUST, NED does not factor in Matric/SSC marks at all — only HSC Part I and your Entry Test score decide your Merit Score.

Sections
4
Duration
~120 Min
Note: The test has four sections of 25 marks each. Which subjects appear depends on the subject group you select on your admission form, matching whichever group you studied in HSSC (Pre-Engineering, Computer Science, or others). Everyone answers the same total of 100 MCQs regardless of group.
Passing the test: You need at least 50% in the Entry Test to qualify — scoring below this means you won't be considered for merit, regardless of your HSC Part I marks. The test is usually held in two phases each admission cycle.
How the NED Merit List Works
Once your Merit Score is calculated using the 40/60 formula, NED ranks all qualifying applicants (those who scored at least 50% in the Entry Test) to build what NED officially calls the Call List / First Provisional Merit List.
Result & Call List Announcement
After Entry Test results are compiled, NED notifies the Call List (First Provisional Merit List) for each admission category on its official website. This is your NED entry test result and undergraduate admission status combined into one list.
Separate Lists by Category
NED publishes merit and call lists separately by category and board — Karachi, other Sindh boards, out-of-province, self-finance, and more — rather than one single combined list.
Reporting on the Call List
If your name appears on the Call List, you're required to personally report for document submission, a medical fitness test, and an interview on the scheduled date. Missing your slot means the next candidate on the list is considered instead.
Where to Check Your Status
NED entry test results and merit lists are published through the official admission portal at admissions.neduet.edu.pk, alongside notices on neduet.edu.pk.
Note: Closing Merit Scores vary every year by department, board, and category — NED does not publish one fixed cutoff table in advance. Any "NED last year merit list" figures you find online reflect a specific past cycle and category, not a guaranteed benchmark. Use your calculated Merit Score as a general guide, and confirm your actual standing through the official admission portal.
How to Use the NED Aggregate Calculator
Unlike most Pakistani engineering universities, NED does not factor in Matric marks at all. Enter your marks above to get your exact aggregate — instantly, for free. No sign-up, no manual formulas. Frequently Asked Questions
How is the NED merit calculated?+
By combining your HSC Part I marks (40%) with your NED Entry Test score (60%). Matric marks are not used at all in NED's formula.
Is "CPN" the same as NED's merit formula?+
Not officially. NED's own admission documents call this figure the "Merit Score (MS)," calculated as 40% HSC Part I + 60% Entry Test. "CPN" (Composite Percentage Number) is terminology more commonly used by MUET's admission system, though the underlying idea — a weighted percentage combining academic marks and test score — is the same across most Sindh engineering universities.
What is the NED entry test pattern?+
100 MCQs across 4 sections of 25 marks each, computer-based, roughly 120 minutes. Which subjects appear depends on your HSSC subject group. A minimum of 50% is required to pass.
Does NED use Matric marks?+
No. NED is one of the few major engineering universities in Pakistan that excludes Matric/SSC marks entirely — only HSC Part I and your Entry Test score count.
How do I check my NED entry test result or merit list?+
Results and the Call List (First Provisional Merit List) are published through the official admission portal at admissions.neduet.edu.pk, along with notices on neduet.edu.pk.
What was last year's NED merit list closing percentage?+
NED doesn't publish one fixed closing-percentage table for advance reference — it varies by department, board, and category each year. Use your calculated Merit Score as a general guide, and confirm current standing through the official admission portal once results are announced.
What score do I need to pass the NED entry test?+
A minimum of 50%. Scoring below this means you won't be considered for merit at all, regardless of your HSC Part I marks.
